Traveling for good can cover a myriad of things such as doing it for a charity and going off to a distant land to help or document the life of people in villages. It can also be part of a foreign exchange student program where you switch lives and live in a different country for a few months or even a year. One of our friends recently traveled to Mexico to build small two bedroom homes in an impoverished community, where people are often living with five or more others in these homes. They need the help of whoever is willing to aid them in the building process, because it is expensive to pay for labor and materials. Non-profit organizations often make an effort to raise money in order to do these types of projects so that other people can have a roof on their heads. If these people can get rid of the problem of not having a place to live, that opens up the opportunities for them to find a better job and begin to build their life the right way.
There’s nothing stopping you and your family from doing philanthropic work in another way. You can travel to many impoverished cities around the world, buy food or convert dollars to their currency and give it to people you see on the street. They will be extremely thankful that someone outside of their country has a heart like you.
